1) Water Seepage in the Lift Machine Room:

3) Water Seepage & Getting Accumulated inside the lift Pit:
Ø Trailing Cables: Cables may get immersed in the water & get damaged & lift may operate irregular & by-passing the safety circuits giving rise to the possibilities of causing accidents.
Ø Pit Pulley: Pulley may get rusted & stop rotating, So the over speed safety system clutches will come in action unnecessary, as a emergency brake will stop the movement of the lift in down direction.

This is great information about elevator safety! You never know when rainwater might cause a problem for elevators, and I always think it’s better to be safe than sorry. The post mentioned that the motor may get short-circuited if there is water seepage in the lift machine room. I would imagine that’s pretty common when it comes to floods. Do you always have to wait 3 or 4 days before restarting the elevator, or is there something you can do to speed the process up?
