The highly sophisticated design and wide perspective give passengers the astonishing feeling of gliding through the air in graceful arcs.
If there’s one thing that annoys me with shopping malls it’s when you go up the escalator only to have to walk all the way back around to go up another floor. It’s a tactic used to encourage shoppers to enter more shops than they normally would and also means that shops get more attention.
This Spiral Escalator Mitsubishi however looks right up my street. Recently opened in a shopping mall in Shanghai it stretches seven stories making it the world’s largest spiral escalator.

Spiral escalator Mitsubishi was developed by Japanese firm Mitsubishi Electric who have been in the spiral escalator game since 1985. They didn’t really have much competition other than themselves as they are the only manufacturer of sch an escalator.

The spiral escalator Mitsubishi achieve smooth movement through specially designed chains that can respond to various angles of motion and rails and handrails made with proprietary processing techniques for optimal flexibility, yet the increased range of motion does not sacrifice precision, as the final processing accuracy is 0.1 mm.
